Kevin Cummings Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Methuen Family Funeral Home on Dec. 2, 2025.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kevin M. Cummings, 66, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Kevin was the cherished son of the late John and Florence (McCarthy) Cummings. He earned his GED from West Haven High School and followed his passion for food with culinary training in Willimantic, CT. For years, he delighted customers (and later, everyone lucky enough to know him) with his talent honed at Rebecca's Café on Boston's Beacon Hill. But it was Kevin's legendary homemade fudge, wrapped with love and handed out every Christmas, that became his sweetest signature-rich, creamy, and impossible to eat just one piece.
Kevin lived life with wide-eyed wonder. Few things lit him up like a great movie; his enthusiasm for cinema was contagious-he could quote lines and turn any living-room screening into an event. His ever-growing collection of Beanie Babies wasn't just a hobby; it was a playful spark that started conversations, coaxed smiles from strangers, and reminded everyone not to take life too seriously.
Yet nothing compared to the love he poured into his dogs. Over the years, Kevin was the proud and utterly devoted "dog dad" to a succession of four-legged best friends who knew they'd hit the jackpot the moment they walked through his door. He spoke to them like people, spoiled them shamelessly, and found endless peace on long walks.
Kevin is survived by his three brothers who adored him: Jay Cummings of West Haven, CT; Brian Cummings and his husband, Richard Wein, of Boston; and Tim Cummings and his wife, Donna of Hamden, CT. He leaves behind seven nieces and nephews who grew up on Uncle Kevin's fudge, movie marathons, and boundless affection: Timothy, Christine, Kyle, Danielle, Todd, Ryan, and Joshua.
He was predeceased by his beloved life partner, Patrick Cooney. Kevin's ashes will be laid to rest beside Patrick at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Salem, NH, where their story continues, together forever.
A celebration of Kevin's life will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in Kevin's memory to Rockingham County Meals on Wheels, an organization that meant the world to him in his later years. Donations may be made at www.rockinghammealsonwheels.org/donate. A special thank-you to Sherry and Lisa, his devoted Meals on Wheels volunteers whose kindness and friendship brightened so many of his days.
Kevin's family invites you to share memories or send condolences at www.methuenfh.com. The Methuen Family Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, is honored to care for the Cummings family during this time.
We love you, Kevin. Save us a seat at the movies-and keep the fudge coming.
