Kevin Davis Obituary

Published by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services - New Haven on Feb. 25, 2011.
Kevin Eugene Davis, a dedicated and devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many, departed from this life at the tender age of 48 in his home on Friday, February 25, 2011. Kevin was born in Hartford, CT on December 5, 1962 to Harriett and Eddie Louis Davis. He moved to New Haven, CT with his family as a child, and he attended New Haven Public Schools where he received his high school diploma from Richard C. Lee High School in 1983. Kevin enjoyed working in the community with the inner city youth. Since 1998 he worked as a counselor at the Blue Hills Recreation Center as well as Batterson Park Summer Camp. He was very loyal to his work and was very careful to arrive on time. He was also a lifeguard in his younger days and loved being in the water. He was a quiet man who loved living a simple life of helping others. Affectionately know as, “Babysa, Kevi-Kev, and Uncle Kevin by his family, he was known for bearing gifts for his sisters and candy for his nieces and nephews. Kevin never visited any family empty handed! The gifts were always something handy or useful such as a tool kits, door alarms, hammer, or the latest “As Seen on TV frying pan! He did his best to take care of the family and keep a smile on their faces. His smile, kindness, charm, humor, and loving personality will truly be missed by all who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memory his maternal family, six siblings: Vera Davis Woolfolk, Annette Davis McClain, Edward L Davis (Janice), Tina Davis Ponder (James), Patricia Davis James, Stephanie Davis Tompkins (Timothy); six nephews, six nieces, five uncles, and three aunts. Kevin had a special place in his heart for his family. He especially shared a fond relationship with his mother’s youngest sister Linnet Champion and her husband Alton Champion, Sr. He also shared a special bond with his uncle’s wife who he affectionately called, “Aunt Barbara.. as well as one of his mother’s brothers, “Uncle Benjie, Ronald Hawes. He also leaves a paternal uncle, James Davis. Kevin was predeceased by his parents Harriett Lorraine Williams Davis and Eddie Louis Davis; Maternal grandparents Ineffie Jefferson Hawes and Acey Williams, Sr. and paternal grandparents, Annie Vera Davis and Reed Davis and three maternal uncles. In addition, he leaves a host of family, extended family and friends. His unfailing kindness will always be remembered.
