Kevin Eddy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 29, 2014.
Kevin Lyle Eddy was born January 24, 1957 in Alexandria, MN, the son of Lyle and Violet (Johnson) Eddy. Kevin grew up in the Brandon/Garfield area. He graduated from Brandon High school and continued his education at Detroit Lakes Technical College where he received a degree in diesel mechanics. While still in school Kevin began working for Paul Steinke Enterprise in Detroit Lakes driving trucks. Later Kevin worked for Huckadahl Trucking in Audubon, MN for several years repairing trucks. In 1981 Kevin returned to the Garfield area where he began farming. On April 16, 1983 Kevin was united in marriage to Janell Wibstad. The couple made their home on the farm and were blessed with three children, Chad, Cole and Carley. Kevin worked together with his brother, raising crops and dairy cows. At one time or another he had about every kind of animal anyone would find on a Minnesota dairy farm. Kevin was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Mary’s Church. He loved boating, motorcycling and snowmobiling. He made many trips to Sturgis, SD on his motorcycle. Going out west was special for Kevin. He liked to go snowmobiling in Yellowstone and always thought about heading to the wild west when he retired. Kevin enjoyed working with horses. He knew how to drive them and took pleasure from giving friends and family sleigh rides or driving someone to their final resting place in a horse drawn hearse. He hunted carp with a bow and also enjoyed deer hunting in the fall. Kevin really enjoyed people. He could visit for hours about anything; he especially liked to visit while getting his farm chores done. Most important to Kevin was his wife, children and family; he loved spending time with them. On Monday, December 29, 2014 Kevin died at the age of fifty-seven years. He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Eddy; son, Chad Eddy; sister-in-law, Lynnette Wibstad; and great niece, Norah Eddy. Kevin is survived by his wife, Janell Eddy of Garfield; son, Cole Eddy of Tioga, ND, daughter, Carley Noetzelman and husband, Aaron, of Parkers Prairie, MN; mother, Violet Eddy of Alexandria; grandchildren, Lane Noetzelman, Mason Noetzelman, and Jayden Eddy; sisters, Joanne Loeffler and husband, Francis, of Pace, FL, Cheryl Peterson and husband, John, of Brandon and Tami Kraft and husband, Bob, of Pine City, MN; brothers, Gary Eddy and wife, Mary, of Alexandria and Lonnie Eddy and wife Cari, of Garfield; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Church of St. Mary in Alexandria. Reverend Father Steve Binsfeld was the celebrant. Interment followed on Sunday at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Brandon. Casket bearers included Paul Boeddeker, Curt Mateer, Gregg Tillman, Darrell Davidson, Josh Eddy, Greg Burkey, Gregg Sonstegard and Darrell Saxton. Arrangements were with Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.

My prayers go out to the Eddy family. Kevin was a great guy, I had a lot of fun talking to Kevin about the outdoors and farming. He was really smart about tractors and equipment he was a fun guy to sell things to. I sold him a vehicle and also a tractor. I wish his family the best of luck and my prayers go out to you!

Kevin farmed the land just to the North of our house (Piper's). Since we have lived here, and since my son has been old enough to walk, he would run to the top of our driveway to watch the tractors in the field every time he heard them working the land. He would wave when the tractors would go by and Kevin and his brother would wave back. One day, two years ago, Kevin stopped and gave Gavin (5 yrs old at the time) a ride around the field as he was plowing. I wanted to share this story with your family, it was a very special day for my son and he still talks about the day 'his friend Kevin' gave him his first and only ride in a tractor. When we heard of Kevin's passing and shared the news with Gavin, he was heartbroken. I know he will always treasure that memory of Kevin. May you be blessed with many treasured memories of your own.

Deepest Sympathy to the entire family of Kevin. So sad, may he rest in peace and no no longer suffer from pain. Kevin was a wonderful friend of my brother, sounded like they had good times together and enjoyed each other's company. Along with a few "jabs" at each other! Again, my sympathy to all.
