Kevin Raymond Fitton, 62, of Elizabeth Street, Attleboro, died unexpectedly at his residence on Thursday, September 7, 2006. He was the beloved husband of Mae Irene (Austin) Fitton to whom he was married on June 1, 1991.

Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on October 21, 1943, he was a son of the late Willard Potter and Mildred Mary (Cooney) Fitton. He was raised and educated in Attleboro where he remained a lifelong resident of the community.

Mr. Fitton was a veteran of the United States Army having served from April 6, 1965 until his honorable discharge on March 20, 1967 and later served with the US Army Reserve program until April 5, 1971.

He was employed as a driver and dispatcher for Houle’s City Cab in Attleboro for the past 20 years.

Mr. Fitton subscribed to a mantra of helping others through his volunteer activities. He was a member of the Civil Defense Corps in Attleboro for many years, was a volunteer teaching CPR for the American Red Cross in North Attleboro and Attleboro and was a Cub Scout leader many years ago.

An ardent CB radio operator, he was a member of the local “REACT” club and enjoyed times spent listening to local happenings on his home scanner and time spent on his home computer.

One of his favorite places to visit was the ocean.

In addition to his wife of 15 years, he leaves six children: John R. Fitton of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; William R. Fitton of Attleboro and Mark E. Fitton of Attleboro; Diane M. Smith of Westport; Lisa N. Morrow of Mashpee and Carol A. Morrow of Attleboro; 8 grandchildren and was expecting the arrival of his first grandchild.

Sorry for your loss. I knew and hung out with Kevin when we were both teenagers in the early sixties in the Attleboros.

Kevin and I went through school tegether from the lower grades on up. We hung out together after school and I remember when he got his licence before me, we would ride around in his old jalopy and later on in mine. We spend summers together going to the beaches on the Cape, and even took a few side trips to an all girls school in Fall River to see a few young ladies.

I still remember Kevin in his Taxi harrassing me (in a humorous way)as I walked the beat uptown as a Police Officer. We would laugh and joke as I would stop by the Taxi Stand and chat. Kevin always had a smile on his face and always had a kind word for everyone. Kevin was goodhearted and had a zest for life.

May you rest in peace my friend until we meet once more.
