Kevin Lynn Hayes, age 52, from Blackfoot, Idaho, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024. We are heart-broken yet intentionally choosing to focus on the knowledge that Kevin has been welcomed by loved ones and embraced by Jesus knowing all his worldly cares have passed with him.
Kevin was born in Pocatello, Idaho, to Jeanette Davidson (formerly Hayes) and spent most of his life in Blackfoot. Kevin graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1989 and soon after joined Local Union 808 as an apprentice carpenter. He stayed with the union for many years becoming a journeyman and traveling with his wife and young family to Oregon, Washington, Arizona and California as a foreman on many jobs.
In 2000, Kevin moved back to Blackfoot and took a giant leap of faith, beginning his own construction company, K2 Builders, Inc. He built many homes and commercial buildings up and down the valley during his years as a general contractor. This included three of his own homes, one of which he was residing in currently. K2 Builders is highly esteemed with a reputation for doing quality, down to the last detail work, and this was solely because of Kevin's desire to be excellent in any endeavor he invested his hands and heart into.
Kevin assumed many roles throughout his years including a young bull rider, an amazing carpenter, go-kart dad, football coach, baseball coach, softball coach and most recently, switched his baseball hat for a golf hat. He had also taken a job out at INL, becoming employed as a carpenter at MFC. Although his most cherished roles were being a husband, father, and papa to his most beloved. You saw his soft-spot shine through brightest when interacting with his cherished grandbabies.
Kevin and his wife, KayAnn, began dating in 1991 (with approval from his best friend, Buff, who happened to be her brother) and quickly fell in love, marrying on August 29th, 1992. Together, Kevin and KayAnn, built their family around the desire to establish a steady and long-lasting love that would carry their children through the struggles and hardships of life. In this, they succeeded as each of their children are compassionate, resilient people who love each other and love others well. Kade, Wyatt, Pacen, Elijah and Emery love their dad with a deep and abiding love and are truly grateful to him for all that he taught them, including a deep sense of commitment to excellence in all they do and an unshakeable core strength that will carry them through this and bring them even closer together. Kevin was immensely proud of his children, always bending an ear of a friend or a stranger to tell them what amazing people they were growing into.
Kevin lived life large and passionately, with an unmatched intensity that left an impact on many young lives through his coaching. Kevin put the same amount of attention to detail into everything he did and lived by "if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing right." He had a booming, one of kind voice that could be heard cheering for his favorite team or laughing over a new (probably inappropriate) joke. He was a born-again Christian who attended Blackfoot Christian Fellowship and knew that this world was not his home. He left us too soon, but we rest in knowing that he is now safe and at peace, free from the struggles and hardships, striving no more and being fully healed.
Kevin is survived by his wife, KayAnn, his children and their spouses: Kade and Arielle Hayes, Wyatt and Brookelynn Hayes, Pacen Hayes, Elijah Hayes, and Emery Hayes. Three grandchildren: Kastle, Axtyn, and Waylon. His mother and step-dad, Jeanette and Eldon, his twin-brother, Barry, many brother and sister-in-loves and nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2024 at the at the Hawker Funeral Home. The family will meet with friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the services. The funeral will be broadcast on the Hawker Funeral Home website for those who cannot attend.

Many memories of Kevin when he was growing up. As a young boy he lived next door. Both Kevin and his brother spent a great deal of time while their mom was at work just hanging out with me and my daughter. He always had such a generous, giving heart. At that time in life he was always trying to impress with his microwave skills, always bringing me something. He was always so willing to help with anything. His smile would light up a room. He went on a few family trips with us. As time passed and he grew up, whenever I´d run into him it was like we never missed a beat in our friendship no matter how long it had been since we had seen each other. He always had a sense of home in my heart and always will. As I read all the thoughts and comments from others one thing is very clear...Kevin left a stamp on so many hearts and is now in the loving arms of Heaven. My heartfelt condolences to family and friends. Rest in peace Kevin. Sending love and hugs from here to Heaven. Debbie Nakamura
