Kevin Hines Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home - East Louisville on Apr. 18, 2024.
Kevin Campbell Hines, 71 was born July 22, 1952 and died April 17, 2024.
He was a graduate of Durrett High School Class of 1970. Not to allow his kids to be the first, he graduated with a BA in Communications from the University of Louisville. He was a retired locomotive engineer(stay off the tracks) and past president of the KYANA Blues Society.
If you ever met him you know he loved to talk be it about cars, astronomy, trivia, his grandchildren and don't get him started on music, especially The Blues, which always led to interesting road trips.
His sense of humor was either loved or needed some getting accustomed to. A true kid at heart you could always find him tinkering with something or looking for the end of the internet.
An avid fan of tube amplifiers, he had a business repairing amps and every musician in town for a show would end up in his shop for a repair or just to chat.
He was married to the love of his life, Anne for 52 years and depending on who is telling the story for 55-65 years. He always said he 1st saw her in 1959 when she was 7 @ Gilmore Lane playground and it was Love at first sight. She would always tell him, he was full of it, causing him to refute by telling her what she was wearing that day, she would shake her head and say they were introduced in high school and together from then on.
Either way their love for each other led to 4 vastly distinct strong willed children: daughter - Lisa (Kevin), sons - Michael (Laura), Patrick (Jennifer) and preceded in death by Zachary. They also had 5 grandchildren: Cody, Macon, Dalton, Trinity and Cameron Hines along with Patrick Browning - which led to his more recent passion of teaching his grandchildren the ways of the world aka CHAOS. He also had tons of teenagers who grew up lovingly calling him pops.
Visitation will be from 2:00pm - 5:00pm, Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Ratterman Brothers, East Louisville (12900 Shelbyville Road). Funeral mass will begin at 1:30pm, Monday, April 22, 2024 at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church (1104 S 6th St, Louisville, KY 40203). His final resting place will be Calvary Cemetery (1600 Newburg Rd, Louisville, KY 40205).
"I am what I am, an' tha's all I am" is how he lived and by now he's found a garage full of his people to talk and laugh with.
