Kevin J. Klassen, age 60, of Merrillville, IN (formerly Hammond, IN), passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025 after a long illness. He is survived by his twin sister, Karen (Rick) Trevino, and siblings Mary Klassen Szyndrowski, Janice (Scott) Taylor, Tom (Marlene Moorman), Michael, Jeff, and Jerry, Mary Kay Klassen (aunt), the Tancredi family (double first cousins), along with many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Cecelia (Tancredi) and Donald Klassen, brother-in-law Mark Szyndrowski and many wonderful aunts and uncles.
Kevin was a 1983 graduate of Hammond High School. In addition to his love of all things fishing, car fixing, NASCAR and Cubs, he took great pride in beating his twin sister in backgammon on their weekly visits.
Visitation with the family will be on Friday December 12, 2025 from 3-7pm with a service at 6:30pm at Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN.
Kevin will be laid to rest at a later date beside his parents Cecelia and Donald Klassen at St. John St. Joseph Cemetery in Hammond, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph's St. Vincent DePaul Society https://www.stjoehmd.com/st-vincent. Please leave condolences at www.burnskish.com.
