Kevin McPhearson

With heavy hearts but fond memories, we bid farewell to the one and only Kevin McPhearson, a compassionate soul, a humble man, and a resilient spirit, who passed away on July 5, 2025. Born in Elwood, Indiana on May 27, 1967, Kevin was the kind of guy who wore the word 'nice' like a badge of honor; a term that is often seen as basic, but when applied to Kevin, was elevated to an art form.
Kevin's love for life was contagious, and his enjoyment of simple pleasures was heartwarming. He was a man of many hobbies and passions. He had a soft spot for the thrill of horse racing, the precision of bowling, and the unpredictable joy of bingo. He could often be found by the water, fishing rod in hand, patiently waiting for a bite. But his greatest joy came from family gatherings. He was the mastermind behind many memorable family events, always ensuring that everyone felt included and cherished. Kevin's career in traffic control was more than a job; it was a reflection of his attentive and caring nature, always looking out for others. He found solace attending Harmony Christian Church where he was baptized many years ago.
Kevin leaves behind his beloved sons, Alan and Andrew McPhearson, and his cherished daughter, Taylor (Zach) McPhearson. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Betty Hoover; his brothers George (Marie), Tom (Francie), and Fred (Laura) McPhearson; his sisters-in-law Annette (Randy) Duncan, and Jennifer (Jasen) Neff; his brother-in-law Charles (Erin) Hoover; several nieces and nephews, and his close friend Mike Edwards. He is preceded in death by his parents Everett and Lois McPhearson, son Jacob McPhearson, wife Lisa McPhearson, and father-in-law Les Hoover.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 11:00am EDT at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 South Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana, 46036. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 1:00pm EDT. He will be laid to rest beside his wife Lisa at Forrestville Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Dunnichay Funeral Home to help offset expenses.
