Kevin E. Murray, a Licensed Practical Nurse who dedicated his life to caring for others, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the age of 61. Born on Saturday, May 26, 1962, in Dayton, Ohio, Kevin leaves behind a legacy of compassion and service that touched the lives of many.
Kevin's journey in the field of nursing began when he received his nursing degree Indiana Vocational Technical College in 1993. He served during Desert Storm as a medical and law service specialist, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to both his country and his fellow service members. It was during this time that Kevin received several accolades for his exceptional dedication and professionalism. Among them were the Air Force Short Tour Ribbon, Commendation Medal, Achievement Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, Longevity Service Award Ribbon, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, and Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon.
After completing his military service, Kevin pursued a successful career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Most recently, he worked for Northcoast Behavioral Health CNS in Northfield, Ohio. Before that, he served as an LPN at the Veterans Home in Sandusky. Throughout his career, Kevin's kindness and expertise touched the lives of patients and colleagues alike.
Outside of work, Kevin had a deep love for golfing and camping. He found solace and joy in spending time outdoors and pursuing these hobbies. Whether it was hitting the green or exploring nature's beauty with loved ones by his side, Kevin cherished these moments of relaxation and connection. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain.
Kevin's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him best. He is survived by his loving wife Lydia (nee Rodriguez), their children Kara Thomas, Julia Thomas, Fred (Kaitlin) Murray, Jackie Thomas, Richard Thomas III, Ciara Murray, and Ryan Murray; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence Murray and mother Pauline (nee Bliss) Murray; his sister Karen Murray and granddaughter Alexandria Thomas.
To honor Kevin's life and celebrate the joy he brought to others, visitation will take place at Dovin Funeral And Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Ave in Lorain, Ohio, on Thursday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with memories being shared until 8:00 P.M. Kevin's funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Rocky Ortiz from Sacred Heart Chapel officiating. The AMVETS Post 32 will follow with Military Honors.
Kevin leaves behind heartfelt memories, cherished friendships, and a legacy of compassion. His dedication to serving others will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, knowing that his life made a significant impact on the lives of others.
