Obituary published on Legacy.com by Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel - Monrovia on Dec. 24, 2024.
Kevin Lee Shields, 59, of Indianapolis and formerly of Monrovia, left this world unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. He was born on July 8, 1965, to Dennis L. Shields and Lillian (Satterly) Pitcher.
As a boy, Kevin attended Hall Elementary School and played little league baseball in Monrovia. He later moved to the city and graduated from Southport High School with the class of 1983. After graduation, Kevin earned his welding certificate from Central Nine Career Center then proudly enlisted in the United States Army, bravely serving his country during the Persian Gulf War, earning the prestigious status of Corporal. After being released from his duties, he worked as a talented welder and fabricator for several companies, including CTP, Bastain, and most recently Modular Devices, Inc.
Set up on a blind date at the end of 1993, unbeknownst to Kevin he was about to meet the love of his life, Shelly Schrowe. He took her to Cracker Barrell for dinner and the pair remained inseparable, uniting in matrimony on August 9, 1997. Together they were blessed with two children, Jamie and Logan. The family of four spent quality time together and often had family game night.
A hot rod enthusiast, Kevin and his crew frequented car shows. His father gave him a 46' Chevy Roadster pick-up truck he named Carl, and he and Shelly thoroughly enjoyed running the wheels off it. An avid knife collector, he was gifted with the talent to make his own knives. A hard worker, he was full of life, loved to have fun, was a jokester and found pleasure in picking on people at times. Goofy by nature, Kevin had quite a stubborn side but remained loving and true to his family and friends. Leaving this world and his family all too soon, he leaves behind heartache and a life uncompleted, but his time here will be fondly remembered and deeply cherished by all who knew and loved him.
