Umpired with Kevin in the 2016 regional Tournament and had him for a student at the regional umpire classes over the years. He was a great family man and a man of faith i always had a good time in conversation talking about almost anything but especially baseball and umpiring. Never saw him or talked to him without his patented smile. His volunteerism and dedication to the Little League program was special and he and his family devoted there spring and summers to ensure the youth in his neighborhood and beyond had the best experience possible. This type of dedication is rare especially by todays standards. Some of my favorite moments was helping him umpire in one of the Houston urban tournaments for at risk youths and visiting with him and Jennifer on a trip to the Little League world series a few summers back. Condolences to Jennifer and the family you are in my prayers.

I’m glad to have been someone that Kevin relentlessly picked on while volunteering at the regional tournament. I loved that he fondly would talk about calling up to the press box during his championship plate and hearing me speaking back to him, and that he remembered that as part of his special memory of the 2016 tournament. We sat together during my first trip to the LLWS. We umpired at Parkwood (D-25) and around D-14, D-15, and D-16 together for every non-pandemic year since I started. I would always relax when I saw his gray van in the parking lot on game days, and it would never fail where he’d say “let’s wear red” or “let’s wear white” (never the boring black or powder blue unless we had to) — he always loved the diverse colors of the umpire shirts. A hard worker, he was always kind. One of a kind, there will never be another like him, and I know a great light in this world has left us far too soon. Godspeed, my friend. I’ll see you when I get there.
