Kevin Wickliff Obituary

Wickliff, Kevin 4/13/1950 - 8/2/2022 Grand Rapids Kevin took the world by storm in 1950 in Columbus, Ohio as the third child of E. Lynn and Marilyn Wickliff. On August 2, 2022, he uttered his final humorous quip and lost his cancer battle. Often quoting, "If it got any better, I'd need a twin," Kevin seldom recognized a bad day. He gifted his friends and family with his love, humor and an occasional lampoon. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mark. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Diane; his children, Jordan (Erin) Wickliff and Stacey (Marcio) da Silva; grandchildren Trenton, Kendal, Charleigh, and Morgan Wickliff, Marcos and Simon da Silva; sisters Debbie (Tom) Carson and Melissa (Jeff) Polick. A private inurnment will be held, followed in coming weeks by a Roast and Toast celebration for his many dear friends and golf buddies. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Feeding America West Michigan.

This is such sad news. Kevin was like another brother to me when we were growing up. He was always smart, funny, kind, and amazingly optimistic. So many memories....
I was blessed to have known him.
I wish I could be eloquent but it is too hard to think and cry at the same time.
My heartfelt condolences to Diane and her entire family.

After our 40th class reunion a group of us golfers started playing golf once a month each summer. Kevin was always the first one to respond he would play . He had a great smile and a firm handshake that let you know he was glad to see you. He was a better golfer than me but always tried to help me improve my game. We played a lot of great courses over those years with lots of laughs. I will miss him and his golf game every summer. My prayers for you and your family Diane.

Our family has lost a beloved and cherished member who we will all mourn immensely. For us, Kevin was not an in-law, but one of us, our clan. Kevin has been family for as long as I can remember, he and Diane together modeled for all of us marriage and family, together they have guided us all these years. I will be forever grateful for his presence and influence in my life.

My Pop always knew how to make something special out of the simplest things. He was a leader to the men I look up to today. I cherish the memories I hold with him, including my love for golfing (driving the cart). He was such an incredible example, and I hope we all implement a little bit of Pop in our personalities.

The epitome of cool! Kevin was comfortable in his own skin and made everyone around him feel better about themselves too. He was funny and quick-witted, but you never felt bad if you were part of the joke because you knew that he liked you. He was a very good golfer but didn't take anything on the course too seriously - he was a good listener and would rather talk about what was going on in your life. Kevin was a great husband and brother, a very proud father and grandfather and a good friend to many. Mondays on the golf course, especially when we brought caddies, were often the highlight of the week. I will miss you dearly buddy. God speed.

He was my brother. Not my brother-in-law but my brother!. Everyone should be so lucky is to have someone like him and their family. I love you bro and I'll miss you everyday!

What a truly special, loving, hilarious man. There are too many memories to count of giggling away as a kid hanging out in your pool, or in Charlevoix on vacation with your wonderful family. My heart hurts for your loss, but I'm so grateful for those sun filled days, flying kites together and the laughter. What a special family you all are. Sending Light and Love to you all.

The first time I ever went over 100 mph on the ground was in the passenger seat of his 300zx twin turbo. He was a great person to share a thrill with. He always made you feel like you were getting away with something. Truly one of the brightest, most positive people I have ever known. The definition of charm.

It is hard to put into words how difficult it is to realize that Kevin is no longer with us. He made everyone feel welcome and at home in his presence. Always smiling, upbeat, and positive. I feel fortunate to have known him, to have played golf with him, and to have had him as a member of our golf league. A great family man, and a darn good golfer! He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. A truly special human being.
