Killian Lochlann Kenney, first of his name, born April 24, 2016, died peacefully at the age of 9 and a half years, on October 29, 2025, after a long four-year battle with neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer. Killian is survived by his Momma and Daddy, Melyssa and Patrick, his big brother Cormac, his little sister Maeve, and all grandparents on both sides.
Killian the Warrior was never scared to go to the hospital. He was well-loved there, and it is where some of his favorite people work. Whenever home from a hospital stay, he would express gratitude to be home, but state he missed the nurses. He faced each treatment with a stoicism well beyond his age. He never asked 'why me?', just 'what next?' Killian learned very quickly that 'the only way forward is through.' He might need a moment to gather himself, but he did everything that was ever asked of him and then some. Killian aspired to be a pediatric oncology nurse, partially due to the amazing care he received, but also because he believed he would be able to really understand what his patients were going through.
Asked what he liked, the response would likely be something adored by his big brother, which translated to video games, building things, and Pokémon. He also loved dinosaurs and dinosaur-themed things. He loved anything that was an adventure. A quick trip to the store, the initial acceleration of his ATV. One regret was that, due to his immunocompromised status, he did not travel. Throughout most of his treatment, he remained mobile, often being seen riding his ezy roller around JHH. He hated being alone and, in the end, just asked for visitors, looking forward to daily visits with his siblings and other friends and family.
Killian had the greatest smile and best belly laugh. If he found something funny, you would know. Likewise, he possessed a bombastic side eye for the things he did not find humorous. He was amazing at smack-talking during the games he played, both physical and electronic. A cheer of 'YAAAAH!' was not unheard of.
In the hospital, Killian was showered with gifts and given the opportunity to choose things he would like; he would often take that opportunity to think of other people. Many days, he would wait excitedly for his siblings to get home from school to share something he had picked with them in mind.
He loved so many people in his life, with that personality that drew people to him. He gave the best hugs, and even in pain or having to hold himself back a little, he always willingly gave them.
Family will receive friends for visitation Saturday November 8th from 12pm until 4pm at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road
Reisterstown, MD 21136.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Killian's memory may be made to Horizon Day Camp or Johns Hopkins Child Life department.
