Kim Margo (Christian) Barrett, daughter of Ronald Christian and Roxana Holleran, was born on January 23, 1955, in Wellsboro, PA. She spent her childhood in New York and Pennsylvania and later her family relocated to Cherokee, IA. She attended Washington High School where she graduated in 1973.

Kim married Kenneth Barrett Sr. on June 30, 1973, in Windsor, NY. To this union, three children were born, Kari, Kris, and Kenneth Jr. Kim worked at the Hy-Vee Warehouse for 14 years. She then opened and co-owned Quilt-N-Kaboodle quilt shop, with Ginny Bunt, in Cherokee, for 15 years until her retirement. After her retirement she continued to quilt quilts for others, from her home, up until her passing.

Kim enjoyed quilting and thoroughly enjoyed all of her customers at the quilt shop. Many became lifelong friends. Kim loved her dog, Casey, often joking that he was the favorite child. Most of all, she enjoyed the time spent with her family and friends. She was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Kim was the inspiration for Kim’s Meals, a Catholic Daughters’ Ministry that delivers meals to the sick and homebound.

On Saturday, November 9, 2024, Kim passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, following a 15-month battle with lung cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald Christian and Roxana Holleran Behn; paternal grandparents, Ralph and Margaret Christian; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Margaret Holleran; in-laws, Martin Barrett Sr and Uzlia Henson Barrett; and grandson, Shane Lundy.

Kim will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Kenneth Barrett Sr.; children, Kari (Kevin) Lundy, of Cherokee, IA, and their children Kaia (Tommy) Smith, Christian, Collin and Cael Lundy; Kris (Daniel) Walter, of St. Cloud, MN, and their children, Natalie (Alex) Dvorak, Brittany, David, Julianna and Sara Walter; Kenneth Jr. (Rhonda) Barrett, of Watkinsville, GA, and their children, Kaitlyn and Kaylee Barrett; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Pandora (Dana) Phipps, Scott (Jill) Christian, Jill (Daren) Lynch; stepbrothers, Nicholas (Yvonne) Behn and Douglas Wortman; sister by choice, Ginny (Mike) Bunt; and bonus family, Armond and Cassady Rider and their sons, Levi and Knox; 7 sister and brother in-laws; many nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Catholic Daughters which will be used to help with Kim’s Meals.
