Kim E. Burton (Parkhurst) 68 of Auburn, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Friday, November 21, 2025 in Springfield, Illinois following a brief battle with cancer.

Kim was born on November 8, 1957, in Decatur, Illinois, to Gretchen (Goodall) and Wally Connard. She was later adopted by Richard Parkhurst following his marriage to her mother.

Kim married Robert "Bobby" Burton on August 21, 1993, in Auburn, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby; her mother, Gretchen; her father, Richard; her mother-in-law, Donna MacMurdo Burton; and many dear friends and extended family members.

Kim graduated from Rockford East High School in 1975, after attending school in Athens, IL. She earned her Paralegal Certification from Watterson College in Sherman Oaks, California, in 1986. Over the years, Kim worked as a legal assistant and paralegal with various firms and agencies in both California and Illinois. She retired from the State of Illinois in 2024.

An avid reader, Kim was always a passionate supporter of her children, often seen (and heard) cheering them on. Known for her infectious smile and vibrant spirit, she was the life of every gathering she attended. Above all, Kim was a loyal friend and a deeply loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her brothers, Kevin, Todd, and Steve; her sister, Michelle (Paul) Maaks; her son, Jordan (Jessica) of Canton, IL; her daughters, Katie (Casey) Bova and Kristen of Colorado; five beloved grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her father-in-law, Robert of Auburn, IL; and numerous friends.

Kim will be dearly missed. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of services 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Bramley Funeral Home in Auburn with Pastor David VanBebber officiating. In keeping with Kim's wishes, her ashes will be scattered in a private ceremony at a later date, surrounded by close family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you reach out to a friend you haven't seen in quite a while and share a laugh, a story, or a drink.
