Kim Martino Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel & Cremation Concepts on Feb. 12, 2026.
Kim Yvette Martino, 69, went home to see her Lord on February 10, 2026. She was born in Lawrence, Kansas on May 5, 1956, to Bub and LaDonna Schmidt.

Kim is survived by her loving husband, Jim, and her children: Jessica (Pablo) Ramirez, Nick Martino, and Chris Martino. She leaves behind wonderful grandchildren: Jasmine (Tyler) Breen; Nina Cisneros, Angelo Saunders, Messiah Ramirez, and Genesis Ramirez. She leaves behind her brother, Kip (Micha) Schmidt and sister, Tamala (Lee) Bramlett along with her nieces and nephews – Jake, Lacey, Ryan Anastasia, Chantee, Jon, Emily, Brooke, Kris Ida Rose Sean, and great nephews - Liam, Odin, Brenton, Turner, and Meesha. Sister-in-Laws Rose (Dale) Tiemeyer and Sara (Joe) Yoakum

Kim grew up in DeSoto, Kansas at a time when living in a small town was carefree. She played basketball when women's sports were not available in school. She was the fastest softball pitcher in her league, lifeguarded at the local swimming pool, and she donned a cheerleading outfit to support DeSoto High School athletics.

Kim was special in that gift giving was her strength. She would spend her last penny on gifts for her loved ones. She was a confidante and had true care and concern to the younger family members. Kim brought beauty to the world in many ways, through her gardening skills and her ability to decorate any home. She could take garage sale finds and make them look like expensive décor. Kim never saw a weed that she couldn't pull. Some would say it was an obsession. The family lore is that while on a road trip she was found pulling weeds at a rest stop.

Tragedy struck in the wee hours on February 10 when a fire erupted in the room where Kim was sleeping in which she never made it out. She was found in the blaze laying alongside her loving companion German Shephard dog, Zadie. It was comforting to the family to know that she didn't leave this earth alone. Her life was cut short and we will miss her terribly.
