Kimberly Estep Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Appalachian Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Johnson City on Feb. 28, 2026.
Kimberly Estep, 64, Johnson City, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at her home.

Kim was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Jewel Jeleitha Hill Huckaba.

Kim was a 1979 graduate of Happy Valley High School.

She was employed and retired from the State of Tennessee. Upon retirement, she worked as a secretary in the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation.

Kim enjoyed spending time with her family, and more than anything, was a proud "Mimi". She especially loved being with her four grandchildren. Kim also enjoyed spending time on her family farm, watching her bird feeders, bird baths, gardening, and feeding the donkeys.

In addition to her parents, Kim was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Jack Shipley and Danny Estep, a niece, Chanda Shipley, and a nephew, Casey Shipley.

She is survived by her loving husband of forty-four years, Rick Estep; two children, Josh Estep and wife Whitney, Jonesborough, Brooke Tolley and husband Jeremiah, Johnson City; four grandchildren, Abraham Tolley, Johnson City, Harper, Addison and Mason Estep, all of Jonesborough; her sister, Pam McCurry and husband Kenneth, Johnson City; her brother, Kevin Huckaba and wife Donna, Johnson City; a nephew, Jonathan Huckaba, Elizabethton; a niece, Lori Hamilton, Elizabethton; lots of cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be conducted Monday, March 2, 2026, at 6:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home. Kim's brother-in-law, Kenneth McCurry, will lead the service.

The family will receive friends Monday prior to the service from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.

Graveside committal service will be held Tuesday, at 12:00 P.M., in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Kim's nephew, Jonathan Huckaba, will speak at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Estep, Jeremiah Tolley, Bryson Shipley, Hayden Shipley, Chris Hoss and Jonathan Huckaba. Those planning to attend are to meet at the funeral home by 11:30 A.M. to proceed to the cemetery.
