Kimberly Ann Shanty, age 40, of Saranac Lake, died Monday, August 4, 2025 at her home in Saranac Lake.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on February 13, 1985, she was the daughter of Bruce and Jane (Rock) Shanty.
Kimberly was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake. She attended and graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 2004, she continued her education at Cazenovia College where she received her bachelor’s degree of psychology in 2007. Kimberly worked at Kinney’s Drug Store in Saranac Lake for many years. She was currently working at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake for the past 13 years as a Pharmacy Technician. She also owned and operated her own custom bandana business.
Kim volunteered at the Joshua Fund where she adopted her “fur baby” Porter. Kimberly had a very adventuresome spirit going skydiving in Montana and traveled extensively with Porter Up and down the east coast. She was an avid hiker, was an Adirondack 46’er and had recently planned to travel to Switzerland. She also enjoyed Winter Carnival, going to concerts, taking Ukulele lessons and photography. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends including her nephew Connor and nieces Piper and Makenna.
She is survived by her beloved fur baby Porter, her father and mother Bruce and Jane Shanty of Saranac Lake, two sisters Tiffany Rohe of Saranac Lake and Michelle Shanty of Rainbow Lake. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Dorothy and Robert Oliver, Herbert and Mary Rock and Leon and Carol Shanty.
Calling hours will take place from 5:00PM to 7:00 PM at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Thursday August 14, 2025. Burial will take place in Harrietstown Cemetery in Saranac Lake at a later date at the convenience of Kimberly’s family.
