Kirk Munro Agon passed away peacefully in the early hours of November 20, 2025, at age 85. His family was by his side in his last few weeks, and his loving wife of 50 years, Nga, had the privilege of holding him close as he took his last breaths.
Kirk was born on March 24, 1940, and raised in Cape Vincent, NY, the son of Theodore and Isabelle Agon. He attended Oklahoma State University before earning an MBA at American University in Washington, DC. In between academic pursuits, he explored the world. His travels abroad took him across four continents to more than 70 countries, including Oman and Malaysia. Foremost among the places he lived and worked was Vietnam, where he found a place that challenged and welcomed him, a culture he adored and respected, and ultimately a home away from home. He would go on to live there for eight years, and together with Nga, build a life with their daughters, Chau, 60, and Ngoc (Minh), 57.
Kirk lived a big, one-of-a-kind life that was full of adventure, joy, and laughter. He loved music, flying, sailing, scuba diving, and reading the paper with a cup of black coffee and perhaps, a slice of pie. Adventurous, nurturing, playful, and infinitely compassionate, Kirk had an infectious smile and a singular gift for connection. He will be missed by an army of friends and family, many of whom came to know him as he aided in their evacuation from Vietnam - the effects of which have had a profound impact on current and future generations.
Besides his wife and children, he is survived by his son-in-law, Jeff; grandchildren, Chau-Lan, Nicole, Samantha, Jacqueline, and Kiet; brother, Ted; as well as beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Stuart.
We are so grateful that we were his and he was ours. A celebration of life is planned for a future date; details to come.
