Robert "Kirk" Harrell, age 67, beloved son of Evelyn Moore Harrell and the late Horace W. Harrell of Soperton passed away at home on Monday evening, February 9, 2026, surrounded by his family and caregivers.
Born in Soperton, he was the youngest of 4 children and only son. He graduated from Treutlen High School in 1977 and attended Swainsboro Tech where he took business classes. From an early age, he worked at the family business, Harrell's IGA, continuing until his father's death in 1992. He worked in manufacturing in Swainsboro and also at Tractor Supply before joining Wal-Mart in 2002 as a Sales Associate in the Hardware and Paint departments, retiring in 2023.
In his younger years, Kirk enjoyed fishing and riding horses and eventually had a farm where he raised and tended cows. He often took his great nieces and nephews to help him feed the cows. He was also a gun and knife enthusiast and had collected both for many years. More than anything Kirk had a servant's heart, performing many acts of kindness and helping others including caring for his mother for over 30 years.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Darrell Stephens and Jerry Walden.
He leaves behind his three sisters, Phyllis Stephens, Janice Walden, and Marsha Mimbs (Eddy) all of
Soperton, GA; three nieces, Phaedra McLendon (Bart), Brunswick, GA, Desha LeDuc (Michael), Cumming, GA, and Janica Peavey (Jordan), Statesboro, GA, two nephews, Dustin Mimbs (Jamie), Canton, GA and Jarrett Walden (Erin), Statesboro, GA, thirteen great-nieces and great-nephews, several beloved cousins and his care family, Fonda Sutton, Sylvia Phillips, Stephanie Anderson, and Martha Cohran.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Anchor of Hope Worship Center with Reverends Gilbert Posey, Milton Thomas, and Greg Ely officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bart McLendon, Michael LeDuc, Jordan Peavey, Dustin Mimbs, Jarrett Walden, Will Garner, Parker Walden, Knox Peavey, Eddy Mimbs and Pierce Walden. Honorary escort will include his great-nieces and great-nephews.
Kirk's family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Anchor of Hope Worship Center, or friends and family may call at the residence of Phyllis Stephens.
