Klaudiusz Weiss Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 28 to Dec. 29, 2022.
Beloved husband of Julia Przybos died December 22, 2022. Klaude was the Lillian and Henry Stratton Professor of Neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai in New York. His research played a key role in developing the now very familiar concept of neuromodulation, and led to major reevaluations of the physiological role of peptide cotransmission. Klaude authored or co-authored over two hundred peer-reviewed scientific articles including a theoretical paper discussing the command cell concept that was so influential it became a citation classic. He was the recipient of many prestigious awards including a National Institutes of Health MERIT Award and a McKnight Neuroscience Development Award. He was also elected as a fellow by the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Association for Psychological Science. Klaude was known for his collegiality and willingness to mentor everyone, from senior faculty to students, his personal style, and his insightful and witty observations about life. He will be sorely missed.
