Kollin J. Rains

Kollin J. Echohawk, also known as Kollin J. Rains, age 20, died on Sunday, September 28th, 2025. Born on February 4th, 2005, in Ogden, Utah, Kollin resided in Chapin, South Carolina.

Kollin was a dedicated diesel mechanic and a full-time student, passionately studying aviation mechanics. He was highly respected and admired by his peers for his hard work, determination, generosity, resilience, and loyalty leaving a lasting impact. His work ethic and determination set him apart and earned him the utmost respect from colleagues, friends, and family. His enthusiasm for aviation mechanics was matched only by his love for vehicles of all kinds - planes, automobiles, and trains. Kollin was known for his selflessness, kindness and unwavering support of others. Kollin had an uncanny ability to reach people in a profound way. He was a beacon of light in both his personal and professional life that left a permanent impression on anyone who knew him. Kollin's world revolved around his relationships with friends, family and colleagues. He gave everything that he had to help others, especially when they were in a time of need. Kollin's vibrant smile and upbeat demeanor could brighten any day. He loved simple pleasures such as hiking, helping friends fix things, traveling, and spending time with family, friends and most notably the love of his life. Kollin has touched the lives of so many people in a positive way. He will forever live in their hearts and the love that he has shared will never be forgotten.

Kollin is survived by his parents, Rodney and Kathryn Rains; sister, Rhiannon Rains, all of Chapin, South Carolina; half siblings, Brooklyn Echohawk, of Broomfield, Colorado; Tori, and Hayden Weygant, Brintley and Beckett Haskell, all of Erie, Colorado; maternal grandparents, Jay and Deborah Hancock of West Haven, Utah; maternal grandmother, Kelly Hancock of Ogden, Utah; paternal grandmother, Delories Rains of Chapin, South Carolina; paternal grandparents, Fred and Barb Echohawk of Denver, Colorado; paternal grandmother, Dana Echohawk of Denver, Colorado; and many extended family members and friends.

Kollin is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Don Rains of Leesville, SC.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Whitaker Funeral Home, Chapin. A gathering of family and friends will follow from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
