Kolsen Deandre Johnson

On October 14, 2024, at 12:26 PM, the world was blessed with the arrival of Kolsen Deandre Johnson at Novant Health in Charlotte, North Carolina. Though his earthly time lasted only 8 months, Kolsen’s life was rich in love, purpose, and unwavering strength.

On July 2, 2025, at 3:34 PM, Kolsen gained his forever angel wings while being held in the arms of his loving parents, Kendderick Johnson and Nejae Roberts, at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital. Despite battling interstitial lung disease, pulmonary vascular disease, and progressive pulmonary vein stenosis, Kolsen fought every single day with a spirit that inspired everyone around him.

Kolsen was a true fighter—feisty, expressive, and full of life. He had a sweet habit of sucking on his fingers and hands, bringing himself peace and his family joy. He adored tummy time, where his strength and determination would shine. Music brought him calm, and one of his favorite things in the world was the gentle breeze from his fan blowing on his face.

But one of Kolsen’s greatest joys was being read to by his mommy and daddy. The sound of their voices brought him comfort, and storytime became their sacred moment—where love, connection, and hope filled the room, even in the toughest days. It was in those quiet, tender moments that Kolsen truly felt at home.

Though Kolsen never made it home in the traditional sense, he lived a life surrounded by unwavering love. From his family to his medical team to the thousands who followed his journey and prayed over him—Kolsen was never alone. His life united people, built unshakable faith, and reminded us all what it means to fight with grace and love deeply.

Kolsen was deeply loved by his parents Kendderick & Nejae , his older brother Nehemiah, his grandparents Tasha, Betty, James, Great Grandparents Deloris & Roberts, Uncle Troy & Uncle Johnathon, Uncle Rodderick, Uncle Yuro, Aunt Mary, Aunt Kendall, Aunt Kaneshia , and a village of family, friends, and supporters. He may have only spent 8 months on Earth, but his legacy is eternal.

Heaven didn’t just gain an angel—Heaven gained a warrior.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12 at 10:30 am at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home of Huntersville, NC.
