Kristina Marie Nelly

Kristina Marie Nelly, age 52, of Hercules, California, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2025, after a courageous seven-year-plus battle with cancer.

Kristina was born on June 22, 1973 in Manila, Philippines to Candido Valdes Nelly and Remedios Tan Tyapon Nelly. She spent her years of schooling at St. Joseph's Catholic School, Lowell High School, and San Francisco State University. Kristina dedicated her professional life to public service, initially with a job in State government, then 24 years with the City and County of San Francisco, lately with the Police Department Special Permits Unit. Her commitment and dedication to her work were a testament to her steadfast character.

Despite her long health challenge, Kristina embraced life with an unparalleled energy. She was known for her joy in trying new foods, especially desserts, and her love for iced coffee. She loved collecting cosmetics, skincare, and perfume, though she rarely wore make-up except for concerts or on special occasions. A true fan, she could frequently be found cheering for the Golden State Warriors and San Francisco Giants, or attending concerts for a wide range of musical genres, from Pop to Metal or Punk and, more recently, one of many K-pop concerts, especially anytime ATEEZ toured (even traveling as far as the East Coast or Southern California for tour stops). And even while dealing with myriad health issues, it was still easy to perk up her mood by mentioning a trip to go "casino-ing".

Bubbly and opinionated, especially regarding politics or celebrity gossip, Kristina had a vibrant personality and approached every conversation with warmth and thoughtfulness (and every spirited discussion with fire and conviction). Above all, she was incredibly kind, caring, and giving. Her capacity for generosity defined her relationships with family, friends, and co-workers. And her powerful spirit and unwavering resilience throughout her long illness inspired all who knew her. The other half of her soul, her twin sister Elizabeth, with their mutual love of music, make-up, Bay Area sports teams, and fondness for Korean and Chinese dramas binding them tightly, remained ever by her side.

It is with heartbreaking sadness that we say goodbye to her earthly form, but also take comfort that she is now at peace and free from pain. Kristina is survived by her parents, siblings Elizabeth Marie Nelly and Jonathan Nelly, and sister-in-law Jessica Romero Nelly.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at St. Joseph Cemetery and Funeral Center, 2540 Church Lane, San Pablo, CA from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
