Kristine M. Vandemark
KALIDA– Kristine M. (Kahle) Vandemark, 55, of Kalida, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 29, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 18, 1969, to the late Joyce M. (Recker) Kahle and Carl M. Kahle, who survives in Kalida. She was married on May 14, 1994, to the late John Vandemark.
The heart of Kris's world was her faith and her family. She is survived by her beloved daughters Julia Vandemark of Centerville, Jaylen (Nick) Cleemput of Columbus, Jordyn Vandemark of Kalida, her sister Karen Kahle, and brothers Ken (Cele) Kahle and Kurt Kahle. Kris is preceded in death by her brother Keith Kahle.
Kris's love extended to her in-laws Deb (Graham) Vandemark and John Vandemark, sister-in-law Sandi (Jay) Heckman, brother-in-law Mike (Missy) Vandemark and sister-in-law Keri (Bill) Luersman. Her memory will also be cherished by her many nieces, nephews, and the entire Vandemark and Kahle families.
Kris graduated from Kalida High School in 1987 and attended the University of Cincinnati. She was a long-time member of the Kalida Family Outreach Center. An admitted neat freak, Kris built a highly successful home and office cleaning business that never needed a website or Facebook page, it grew by word of mouth alone.
A genuine sports enthusiast, Kris spent more than four decades as a player and assistant coach. Kris was the first girl to play Little League baseball in Putnam County, was a standout point guard and shortstop in high school and made it as a walk-on with the University of Cincinnati Lady Bearcats basketball team. She was an assistant coach at Kalida High School when the Lady Cats won the girls state basketball championship in 1997 and coached third base with the Lima Havoc for the last 6 years. She was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and one of her favorite memories was being able to take her daughters to the Rose Bowl in 2019.
The most important thing to Kris during her cancer journey was to glorify The Lord who is always faithful and worthy of praise. We celebrate Kris's life lived with passion, purpose and love. Her legacy will continue to inspire the many lives she touched, and her memory will be cherished forever.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at New Hope Christian Center (2240 Baty Rd., Lima, Ohio) with Pastor Jim Swihart officiating. Burial will follow in Union Township Cemetery, Kalida. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Christian Center on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate to Legacy Hospice of Lima or the Kalida Family Outreach Center.
