Kurt James DeVee

Kurt James DeVee was called to the Lord on January 5, 2026 at the age of 65 after a long illness.
Despite multiple surgeries and unrelenting pain, Kurt had an unwavering faith in God. He shared
The Gospel with everyone he met.
Kurt was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and completed his education there. After briefly working
In Michigan, Kurt served his country with pride in the United States Marine Corps. He was a
Lance Corporal upon discharge.
He pursued a successful career as a Service Engineer specializing in commercial HVAC and
Building automation controls. He and his first wife Kathie raised three children in the Midwest.
Later, Kurt relocated to the South and worked in several states including Alabama, Georgia, and
finally Florida.
Kurt had a desire to volunteer in his community and to mentor younger colleagues at work. He
assisted in the Braille Challenge for blind children in Jacksonville for several years. Despite
being confined to a wheelchair in his final years, Kurt continued to mentor colleagues over the
Telephone.
Kurt also had a passion for sports, particularly the football teams Michigan Wolverine and
Detroit Lions. Weekends could find him avidly watching a televised football game, his
faithful dogs sleeping on the couch nearby. After the game, he would have long telephone
Conversations with his brothers critiquing the game and talking smack about the opposing
Team.
According to his friends, coworkers and former colleagues, Kurt had a big personality that was
larger than life. Kurt knew no strangers. He always managed to find a common thread of
humanity in each person he met to weave into his loom of relationships. His presence left a
lasting impression on every life he touched. Kurt's memory will continue to inspire those
who loved him.
Kurt joins his parents in heaven. He is survived by his second wife Rachel, and siblings
Rod(Nancy) DeVee, Brett(Kelly) DeVee, Sharon DeVee, Bob(Dawn) DeVee and Sue(Dave)
Hubbard. Kurt is survived by many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his children
Nicole(Andrew) Bobbe, Brett DeVee and Paige DeVee.
