Kurt N. Weippert age 96 of Dixon died on June 4, 2025, at Franklin Grove Living and Rehab. He was born on October 28, 1928, in Wurzburg, Germany, the son of Georg and Franziska (Laufer) Weippert.
Kurt worked as a as a bookkeeper in Germany before coming to the US. In 1954, he immigrated over to the US and briefly lived with his sister in Boston, MA. Unable to find work there, he went to live with his cousin Hilda and her husband George Hines in Milledgeville, IL and worked around the farm and at Kraft Foods factory. It was there where he first became involved in fixing things at the plant and eventually learned electrical and mechanical basics.
While on vacation in Germany in 1961, Kurt met Marlene. They continued to correspond with each other for the next 2 years before Marlene came over to the US.
Kurt married Marlene on July 6, 1963, in Sterling, IL, and they shared 58 years of marriage together.
Kurt took technical classes in electronics and earned several technical certifications, which allowed him to find work at the Admiral plant that was opening in Dixon, IL. He worked there as a line manager for several years before the plant eventually moved out of state. Wanting to remain in the Dixon area, Kurt found work at Prescott's TV and Appliance repairing TVs and stereos. He worked there throughout most of his career, but also worked at Knie's shortly before his retirement in 1993.
Kurt was also active in the local Knights of Columbus and once served as Grand Knight. Kurt and Marlene were probably best known at the Knights of Columbus around Oktoberfest, where they ran the kitchen and shared the traditional German recipes that they brought with them from their homeland.
He is preceded in death by his wife Marlene, brother Alfons Weippert and sister Emmi Kloth.
