Kurtice "Casey" Luther, a resident of the Elmwood District, passed away in Buffalo General Hospital on August 21, 2025 after a sudden illness. Casey was the daughter and only child of John W. Luther and Linkty Hess Luther. Her father was a long-time broadcaster in the Erie, PA and Buffalo, NY markets. Her mother was politically active and a member of the Junior Leagues of both Erie and Buffalo. Casey attended schools at Villa Maria Academy, Erie, PA, the Eggert Road Elementary School in Amherst, the Nottingham Academy of the Sacred Heart in Buffalo, and the Kenwood Academy of the Sacred Heart, Albany, NY from which she graduated. She attended the University of Buffalo. Casey was active in Republican political circles, working in national and local Republican campaigns. She was a sustaining member of the New York Republicans and a member of the Heritage Foundation and Cato Institute. Outside of politics, her interests were classical music and opera and she was a member of many opera associations including the Metropolitan Opera of New York City. She also read widely, particularly science fiction, and enjoyed traveling and Asian cuisine. Her body was cremated and her cremains will be interned at the Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery, Erie, PA near her parents.
