Kurtiss Follis Blount was born on November 20th in the year of 1967 in Cleveland, Ohio to Beverly Jo Larkins and Archie R. Blount. He was the youngest of three children by his mother and the youngest child of 7 on his father's side. The family joked that Kurtiss’s mom formed the black version of the KKK (Kevin, Keith, and Kurtiss). Growing up, he loved to play sandlot football with his friends, his brother Keith and his closest cousin Todd. Kurtiss began his education at Crouse Elementary, he proceeded to Ennis Jr. High School and graduated from Kenmore High School all in Akron, Ohio.

He met the love of his life Tamela Oliver in 1991 and the two exchanged vows March 18, 1999. Through this union, Kurtiss took on the honor of becoming the father of Consula (5) and Mary (4). Kurtiss and Tammy moved out to Colorado in 1999 and made it their home. Here he picked up the sport of fishing and visited quite a few lakes in Colorado and Kansas. Kurtiss was a member and faithful servant of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, pastored by Marlin Malone in Aurora, Colorado

One of Kurtiss’s first passions was cooking and eating; he cooked his first full course meal of fried pork chops, corn, mash potatoes and gravy at the tender age of eight. During high school Kurtiss began working at Wendy’s; he curtailed that experience by becoming Head Cook at King Cantina, Lone Star, and Boston Market and then became Manager of a KFC. After his years of cooking Kurtiss moved into the security field at Denver International Airport and ultimately Cherry Creek School District #5 as a Security Specialist at Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, CO, and then Overland and Smoky Hill High Schools in Aurora, CO

Kurtiss was preceded in death by his great grandparents Joseph & Florence Follis, great grandparents Walter & Nellie Larkins, grandparents LeRoy N. & Alyce M. Larkins, Mother Beverly Jo Larkins, Father Archie R. Blount, brother Keith Larkins, sister Sophia Aikens, uncles Brian & Alan Larkins, Aunt Muriel Edwards, his granddaughter Bre’Asya Hunt, and very close friend Ron Hall.

He is survived by his wife Tamela, daughters Consuala Oliver (Thornton CO) & Mary (John) Oliver-Green (Aurora CO), brothers Kevin W. Larkins (Aurora CO) Archie Blount (Edmond Oklahoma), Sisters, Nanette Blount-Ali, Kulura Blount-Edwards, Asondra Astar and Odessa Aikens-Davis all of (Cleveland OH) Special Nephew Kevin A. Larkins (Aurora CO) and very close friend and father figure Zed Hampton (Denver CO), very close cousins Todd Edwards (Kent Ohio), Dawn Michelle Smith (Columbus OH), and Robert A. Lawler III (Denver CO), nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild, best friends Dawin Brown and Butch (Shelly) Thompson along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends.
