It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kwame Michael Jermaine Dumas, who departed this life on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the age of 41. Kwame was born on Monday, March 19, 1984, in Nyack, New York.
Kwame and his family moved to Spring Valley, New York, at an early age, and he has always held a special place in his heart for his hometown, where he lived for nearly 30 years and where many of his earliest memories and lifelong friendships were formed. In 2016, Kwame relocated to Georgia with some of his best friends and was most recently a cherished resident of Union City, Georgia.
While in Georgia, Kwame honed his vocational skills, holding various roles in the manufacturing industry. He was a dedicated and hardworking individual, most recently known for his commitment and skill as a forklift operator at Royal White Cement. His colleagues remember him as a reliable and friendly presence, always willing to lend a helping hand and share a smile.
Growing up, he developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors through family camping trips, and that connection never faded. Time in nature brought him peace, and he continued to seek it throughout his life. In recent weeks, he had been preparing to return to his beloved Sweetwater Creek State Park to indulge in his passion for camping.
He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Wendell Konard Dumas, whose memory he cherished deeply. Kwame is also preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Christine Canty; his aunt, Sybil Hartfield; his paternal grandmother, Beatrice Mickle; his uncle, Wiley Mickle Jr.; and his aunts, Martha Hines and Linda Mickle.
Kwame leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience that will be treasured by all who knew him. His unwavering compassion and strength in the face of life's challenges served as a constant source of inspiration to his family and friends. His generous spirit and genuine care for others will be remembered forever.
He is survived by his mother, Cindy Marie Canty-Dumas, of Mebane, NC; his sister, Jasmine Dumas, of Yonkers, NY; as well as a host of cousins, family members, and lifelong friends.
Kwame will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life.
