Kyla Lanae Couch, also known as "Sam", was born on October 28, 2009 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, we lost a beautiful and bright soul. Kyla passed away unexpectedly in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the young age of 13.
She is survived by her parents, Jason Couch and Amber Owens of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and her sister, Lenisa Couch of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Kyla also leaves behind her beloved dog, Axel, her best friend.
Kyla was a Daddy's Girl. She loved going fishing with her dad. She enjoyed going camping with her family and their dogs Axel, Leeza, Bear and Oreo. Kyla loved spending time with her mom and loved to go on hiking trips with her. Kyla and her mom connected with their love for animals and were partners in crime.
She loved hanging out with, and picking on, her sister Lenisa. Kyla and her sister would go on frequent sister dates and loved to get Iced Reese's Chocolate Milks from Dutch Bros. Kyla had tons of passions and hobbies. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, hanging out and playing online games with them. She was a horror fanatic and loved anything horror themed. She was a very talented artist and loved drawing and 3D printing. She loved doing that for her friends. She had a hilarious sense of humor, and loved playing jokes on people to see them laugh. Kyla's best friend however, is her dog Axel. Kyla was given Axel as a present in June of 2021, and was in love with him from the start. Axel was Kyla's whole world and Kyla made sure she took great care of him. She would take him for daily walks and always wanted to buy him new toys. She loved taking him to her sister's house so he could play with Leeza, his girlfriend. Kyla was so proud to have something to take care of herself, and she was the best fur mom around.
Kyla was such a brilliant, loving, and compassionate person. She would always step up when she had friends or family in need. She cared very deeply about how others felt and how they were being treated. She would go out her way to make sure they were included and felt safe, and to let them know that they were not alone during their difficult situations. She had a heart of gold. If only she had reached out to others for herself.
Kyla "Sam" attended Jenkins Middle School, and was a 7th grader. She was in Orchestra and played the Violin. She was a Soccer player for many years, and was known for her aggressive style and was called the 'Beast', because no one could get around her.
Kyla is deeply missed by her friends and family, and she will live on in all of them forever. A Candlelight Vigil will take place on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Palmer Park at 4:30PM.
Funeral Service, 12:00PM, February 25, 2023, The Springs Funeral Services – North, 6575 Oakwood Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80923. There will be a visitation prior beginning at 10:00AM.
