Kyle Scott Kierscht was born on July 11, 1966, in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Orville and Norma (Barnes) Kierscht. He grew up outside of Missouri Valley in the Calhoun area and attended school in Missouri Valley, Iowa. After graduating in 1984, Kyle attended college in Sioux City for heavy equipment operation. He then moved to Orange County California with David Giese and Jack Winther and they worked on the docks. Kyle moved back to the Missouri Valley area and went to work at Negus & Sons operating heavy equipment and worked his way up to a superintendent with this company. Kyle married Teresa Holst on June 10, 2000. The couple have always lived in the Missouri Valley area. In 2005, Kyle took over farming the family farm and continued to work with heavy equipment. In 2018, Kyle retired from operating heavy equipment to work on the family farm. In 2019 he worked with a contractor to remodel his family farmhouse, and they were able to make it their forever home in 2020.
Kyle was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Missouri Valley. He was deeply passionate about farming and working with his hands. He had a remarkable ability to tell a joke, even if he was the only one laughing at it. Kyle enjoyed working out at the CREW Center in Woodbine, Iowa. He and Teresa enjoyed traveling and sightseeing, especially to warmer places as he hated the cold. Family was paramount to Kyle. He took immense pride in attending his children’s activities, supporting them with unwavering enthusiasm. He was always willing to drop everything to help his kids with whatever they needed. His love extended further to his role as a grandpa, where he relished every moment spent creating memories with his grandchildren. Additionally, Kyle shared a special connection with his beloved dog, Mak, who was more than just a pet, he was a faithful companion and part of the family. He was a devoted fan of college football, frequently enjoying games alongside his wife, Teresa. Their shared passion for the sport represented not just a pastime but a bond cultivated through shared experiences and joy.
