Kyle Andrew Owsley, age 23 of Dexter, passed away on August 8, 2022. He was born in Southfield, Michigan on June 18, 1999 to his parents, John and Betsy (née Dennis) Owsley. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his two sisters – Kellie and Kayla, and is also survived by his grandmother, Beverly Dennis of Grove City, Ohio.
Our family was not expecting for Kyle's life to be cut so short so soon. We are all devastated by this huge loss. He was born with a naturally sweet and kind soul, a heart of gold, a big smile for everyone he met and was always a joy to be around.
Kyle had a passion for all sports. He especially loved playing baseball and football and loved snowboarding in the winter and playing golf whenever possible. But, his first love was for hunting and fishing.
Being born into a family where his grandfather, known as "Papa", taught his sons and grandsons all he knew about fishing and deer hunting and introduced them to the kinds of activities associated with what typical hunting and fishing outdoorsmen enjoy doing, Kyle carried on that same tradition with his dad and his cousins who were more like brothers to him.
His love for the outdoors brought out the happy free spirit that defined him and was only surpassed by the love he had for his family. He was selfless and put others first and would do anything to help anyone in need. He was known for being respectful toward everyone he met and was an example to so many who knew him. One of Kyle's fondest memories is from a time when he was younger, he looked forward to the summer weekend visits to Grove City, Ohio where he loved spending time with his "Nanny" and "Grandad" and learning to golf, and the aroma that came from roasting marshmallows.
Kyle felt a very special bond with his sisters, Kayla and Kellie. Their relationship was unique and invaluable. Friendships come and go, but your longest relationships are always with your siblings. They shared common memories and each of them taught each other by passing on wisdom from some of their own life experiences. Kyle's cousins also were very special to him. He spent so much time with each of them, that he thought of them more as brothers and sisters. There were countless hunting trips, family gatherings, birthdays, weddings, graduations, holidays and trips to the lake at Alpena.
Kyle is deeply loved and will be greatly missed more than any words could express. He will be missed by the many friends he had made from growing up in the community of Dexter, attending school and working at the same place of employment with his dad. He worked hard in the elevator business alongside his dad. He was well-respected and loved his job and the guys he worked with.
We wish everyone had had the opportunity to meet Kyle. He was the kid who always had a smile on his face, loved to laugh and make others laugh, jumped in to help with anything he could without being asked, was kind and generous, and such an important part of a wonderful family. He will always be remembered with much love by his heartbroken parents, his two beautiful sisters and a long list of deeply-saddened aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family who will miss him more than words can say. When you think of Kyle, celebrate the good memories you have of him. Remember his contagious smile. Remember that life is fragile and short. Kyle will be forever in our hearts until we meet again.
