Pastor L. Scott Bacon, age 53, of Clarendon, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Pastor Nancy Lucas Bacon; Daughters Noel Narin Bacon and Joy Erin Bacon; Parents, Ken and Carolyn Bacon; and a Sister, Monessa Bacon. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Aaron Bacon.
Pastor Scott attended Texas A&M College and received his MDIV from the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. Scott served as a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America for 21 years. He served at Israel's Lutheran Church in Paris, Ohio, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Smithville, Ohio, and Peace Lutheran Church in Canton, Ohio. In March of 2023, he served as the Senior Pastor at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington, Illinois, until his passing. Scott shared his love for faith, the gift of humor, and a caring heart as a pastor, father, spouse, and friend.
A memorial service will occur on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St Mark's Lutheran Church, 200 S. Main St., Washington, IL 61571. Bishop Greg Busboom will officiate. Following the service, the generous volunteers at St Mark's will provide a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Scott's Memorial Website and online condolences may be accessed at www.masonfuneralhomes.com. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Mason White Funeral Home in Washington.
