Ladean Johnson Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bell's Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Lauderdale Lakes on Nov. 11, 2024.
Today, we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Ladean Johnson-a beloved mother, stepmother, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, and dear friend. Ladean was born on September 14, 1973, in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies, to George Levy and Louise Reid. She migrated to the United States on her 14th birthday in 1987. She attended Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn, New York, where she discovered her passion for track and field. Ladean's talent on the track earned her a spot in the prestigious Collegiate Women's Games at Madison Square Garden. Those fortunate enough to witness her athletic ability would have been filled with pride, seeing her excellence and determination shine.
After graduating high school, Ladean held various jobs before finding her true calling as a Certified Nursing Assistant. In this role, she dedicated many years to caring for others and forming meaningful bonds with those she worked with and served. Ladean's journey as a mother began on April 18, 1995, with the birth of her son, Damian Levy, followed by her daughter, Nakema Edwards, on September 9, 1999. After her mother's passing, Ladean relocated to Florida in August 2002, starting a new chapter with her young children.
Ladean's deep love for God led her to dedicate her life to Him, culminating in her baptism in 2007. Her devotion was recognized when she was ordained as a Deaconess at Word Alive Worship Center, where she served faithfully and passionately. It was at Word Alive Worship Center that she met Michael Johnson. Their shared faith
blossomed into a courtship that culminated in marriage on June 28, 2008. Four years later, on December 23, 2012, they welcomed their daughter, Sariah, into their lives.
Ladean was a woman of many virtues. She cared deeply for her family and cherished vacations and gatherings with loved ones. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed watching movies. She was genuine, honest, and unapologetically straightforward-a no-nonsense woman who spoke from the heart out of love. Together with her husband, Ladean was known for her generosity and willingness to help those in need. Her humility and kindness drew people to her, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. She was indeed a light in this world, and her absence will be deeply felt.
On November 1, 2024, Ladean Johnson transitioned from her earthly home to her eternal home of rest. Ladean was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Levy, and her sister, Michelle. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael; her father, George; her mother-in-law, Hermine; her son, Damian; her daughters, Nakema and Sariah; her stepchildren, Erica and Michael; her brother, Andrew; her sisters, Loretta, Doreen, and Maxine; her grandchildren, Aubree and Kayson; and many other relatives and friends.
Ladean Lenora Johnson, we love you dearly, but find comfort knowing that God's love for you is greater than ours. May you continue to rest in power.
