Lamarr Hunter Hovis

Lamarr Hunter Hovis, 84, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. He was born in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Lathan Eli Hovis and Willie Mae Cochran Hovis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Patsy Crisp Hovis. Mr. Hovis was a Veteran of the North Carolina Army National Guard. He had a passion for collecting and repairing clocks, was a member of Spencer Mountain Baptist Church, and loved his animals - especially his cat, Pumpkin.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hovis will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Spencer Mountain Baptist Church. Rev. William Calvert will officiate. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. Receiving of friends will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
