Lana Jo Kittenbrink, beloved wife (55 years) of Kenneth "Jay" Kittenbrink, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the age of 77 and was promoted to her new role in God's Heavenly Kingdom.
She was the example of faith, and loving mother of Leah (Nathan) Bromen, and Jenneth James; a devoted and caring grandmother to Raymond (Elise) Bromen, Sierra (Phillip) Fischaber, Juliann (Titus) Berndt, Aspen Jay Bromen, Devyn James, and Aaryn James. She is also the loving great-grandmother of George, Walter, Danielle, and soon-to-arrive Kenneth Fischaber, Josiah, Daniel, and Nathan Bromen, and Lazarus, Xesed, and Aliethea Berndt. Lana is also the beloved sister of Sharon Lee (Beaber) and Robert McIntosh, and through marriage, siblings, Douglas and Leslie Kittenbrink, and Janice (Kittenbrink) and Charles Brahmstedt. She is preceded in death by her parents, Landis Jackson and Florence Mancen Beaber.
Lana grew up in the Eastpointe suburb of Detroit and attended St. Peter's Lutheran School. In second grade, her class sang at the dedication of Concordia Lutheran College in Ann Arbor, and she committed in her heart to attend there. She did so after graduating from East Detroit High School, and while at Concordia, she met Jay, and their love began.
Lana became a teacher after graduating from Concordia University Nebraska, and she was gifted in teaching children to read and to love it. Her teaching career was in Lutheran schools, but even during her retirement, she continued to tutor several children each week.
Lana loved softball and played until she was 71 in church softball and co-ed leagues with players half her age. At age 71, she decided to take up golf with Jay, and it became a passion for her over the remaining years of her life.
Lana was strongly committed to her faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. After retiring from classroom teaching, she founded a ministry with which she assisted single-parent families who were having some financial crises. She walked alongside them as well as raising funds to assist them. In concert with this ministry, she began volunteering at the Vineyard Healing Center as a client assessor. This enabled her to learn of other services and assistance for her clients, as well as skills in knowing who truly needed help and who were just going from one ministry to another, to fund life without working. She continued both her ministry efforts to be the hands and feet of Jesus, until her death.

Occasionally you meet someone who radiates love & compassion. Lana was that kind of person. She was a Divine Mirror, demonstrating God´s love to the world. I did not know her well but she has left a lasting mark on me.

Lana was our sweet sister in Christ, a member of the Let There Be Light BSF group. We treasured her perspective and pearls of wisdom. It was our honor & pleasure to study God´s Word with her through the years. We will miss her voice but rejoice that she is celebrating in the presence of her faithful Lord.
