North Augusta, SC- Memorial Visitation for Lance "Lanny" Gerard Lavigne, II, who entered into rest January 18, 2025, will be conducted Tuesday evening, January 28, 2025, from 5-7 o'clock at the funeral home.
Lanny was born July 11, 1967, in Aiken, SC, grew up in the CSRA area, and spent the last 34 years in
North Augusta, SC. He worked as an HVAC and Maintenance Technician, and he was known for his resourcefulness and determination to fix whatever issues came his way. Lanny was truly a "Jack of All Trades," and his hands-on approach to life inspired those around him.
Family was the cornerstone of Lanny's life. He loved his wife, children, and extended family deeply, always striving to provide for them and wanting more for them than he had for himself. He shared special bonds with his children, from playful mornings watching The Amanda Show together to heartfelt moments of support. He was a man of quiet love, showing his care through his actions and a steadfast commitment to their happiness and well-being.
Lanny had a passion for the outdoors and loved the peaceful simplicity of fishing, often enjoying the process more than the catch. He delighted in watching nature and spent countless hours observing the birds, frogs, turtles, deer, and other wildlife that wandered into the yard from the nearby woods. Lanny also had a soft spot for animals, especially his "granddogs," Maybelle and Abigail, whom he adored like family.
He enjoyed moments of creativity, particularly in his younger years when he built model train tracks. Lanny also loved cooking and always held a deep appreciation for his parents' cooking, particularly his mom's hot relish and his dad's pound cake. To him, no meal was as good as the ones made by Nannie and Papa.
A fan of movies and television, Lanny found joy in cowboy films, medieval tales, war epics, and old classics like The Andy Griffith Show. He was also proud of his country and held great admiration for the military service of his father and his eldest son. Although not a veteran himself, he carried a deep respect for those who served.
Lanny's sense of humor, his hard-working nature, and his love for his family and friends will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, care, and the kind of love that speaks through actions rather than words.
Lanny was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Rish King Ables, a brother, Neil Lavigne and his biological father, Lance Gerard Lavigne. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Julie Lavigne; three sons, Wesley (Christopher Howard) Lavigne, Austin Lavigne, and Tyler Lavigne; his father, Wesley Hobart Ables; three brothers, Keith (Kelly) Adams, James Adams, and Gary Lavigne; five sisters, Penny Yaun, Julie Adams, Angie Weyerman, Mary Lavigne, and Jennifer (Kurt) Sherwood; and his two beloved granddogs, Maybelle and Abigail.
