Lance Arthur Lockhart, 59, of
Longview, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday,
November 24, 2025, in Tyler, Texas, surrounded by his loving family after a short, but
courageous battle with lung cancer. Lance was born on August 19, 1966, in Joliet, Illinois, to Layne Elizabeth DeSandre and Harold Lee Lockhart. As a young man, he moved to Texas with his mother and step-father, Arnold DeSandre, and graduated from Pine Tree High School in 1984.
Following high school, Lance pursued several entrepreneurial and mechanical ventures that spoke to his skillful, hands-on nature. He earned his locksmithing certification and successfully owned and operated Lockhart Locksmithing. He also drove a route for Cloud's Sandwiches before truly following his passion for all things mechanical. Lance established himself as a talented master mechanic, working in and managing various automotive shops before finding his home at Rudy's Automotive. In recent years, he transitioned from working under the hood to becoming the trusted face behind the desk, taking care of Rudy's loyal customers.
Lance will be most remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and distinctive, jovial laugh. A man who was true to his word, he was known to be a steady, unwavering presence in a turbulent world and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.
Lance is survived by his beloved daughter, Chesney Lockhart-Reeves, and her
husband, KaCee Reeves, of Bossier City, Louisiana; his dedicated life partner, Shonda
Lockhart, of
Longview, Texas; his parents, Layne and Arnold DeSandre of Murchison,
Texas, and Jean Lockhart of Joliet, Illinois. He is also survived by his brothers, Larry
Lockhart of Murchison, Texas, Dan DeSandre and wife, Stephanie, of Wylie, Texas, and
James Lockhart of Joliet, Illinois; and sister, Pam Attaway of Joliet, Illinois; as well as
numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who cherished him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold "Lee" Lockhart; his brother, Loren
Lockhart; his sisters, Denise DeSandre and Debbie Attaway; and his grandparents,
Anne and Harold Lockhart, Harold and Bernice Meeker, and Otto and Dorothy
DeSandre. He will be welcomed in heaven by this host of loved ones, including his
beloved dog, Killer.
The family extends a sincere thank you to the Intensive Care Team of 4WB at UT East
