Obituary: Lancelot Alando Lindo

November 17, 1944 – October 17, 2025

Lancelot Alando "Lance" Lindo was born on November 17, 1944, in May Pen, Clarendon, Jamaica, to Gertrude Louise Thomson and Oscar Augustus Lindo. He was the third of his mother's four children, along with Gloria, Lincoln, and Robert.

He excelled in athletics at May Pen Primary School, where he won numerous track and field events and was admired for his sportsmanship. Following school, Lance apprenticed at the Jamaica Cordage Company and later worked at H.G. Reid and Sons Ltd. in May Pen. Seeking greater opportunity, he moved to Kingston, where he joined the Daily Gleaner and met his future wife, Vinnette Allwood. The two married in 1969 and along with their son, Avian, the couple welcomed Lance Anthony to the family.

In 1980, Lance immigrated to the United States, settling in Brooklyn, New York. There, he was a Life Insurance Representative and held several clerical roles. He became an active member of Lenox Road Baptist Church, later joining The Brooklyn Tabernacle, where he faithfully served in various ministries.

Lance eventually made Orlando, Florida, his home, joining Calvary Assembly and devoting himself to church service through the Men's, Singles, Seniors, and Usher ministries. Lance was always present to lend a hand and serve others.

He enjoyed a life surrounded by faith, love of family, and the camaraderie of friends and happiness in simple joys like fishing and fellowship. In his later years, after facing a few bouts of illness, Lance resided at Kissimmee Rehab Center, where he received compassionate care until his passing on October 17, 2025.

He is lovingly remembered by his brother, Robert Lindo, and his family; sons: Avian and his wife Tamara, Lance Anthony, and André and his wife Natalee; grandchildren: Felix and Gabrielle; and many extended relatives, friends, and church family.

As a steadfast believer in Christ, we rejoice in knowing he rests in the arms of his Heavenly Father. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May his soul rest in eternal and sweet peace.
