Archie “Lane” Starnes,74, of Lancaster SC, passed away on March 7, 2026. He was born in Union County on February 15, 1952 to Ward & Betty Starnes.
In the beginning of his career he worked for Southern Gas Company which later became Piedmont Natural Gas. In the late 80’s he decided to become a full time farmer. He built chicken houses and started growing for Holly Farms which later became Tyson Foods. He grew chickens for 32 years. He raised pigs, goats, and sheep over the years but cows were his favorite. He was a family man and people person. He loved to talk, laugh, and joke around. If he didn’t pick on you, he didn’t like you.
