LaNette Glenn Coleman, 88, of Prospect, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, on January 6, 2026. She was born on May 10, 1937 to the late Henry and Annette Glenn. She is also pre-deceased by her sister Tola Morgan (Bobby) and her loving husband Joel “Frank” Coleman, Jr.

She is survived by her three children, Jimmy Coleman (Monica), Phyllis Mason (Al), and Rosa Thomas (Darin). LaNette, after being widowed at an early age, made many sacrifices to ensure they had all they needed and more. She was a beloved grandmother to Megan Toney (John), Joel Thomas (Nitalia), Brooke Coleman, and Shannon Coleman. She was also loved by her nieces Mary Annette Dunn (Jimmy), Connie Coleman, a nephew, Rob Morgan, and several great nieces and nephews as well as many great-great nieces and nephews. Of all the roles she had, being called “Mema” and “Grandma” brought her the greatest joy and pride. She never missed a birthday, sporting event, or an opportunity to talk about her children or grandchildren.

"LaNette was a graduate of Farmville High School and Virginia Baptist School of Nursing." She dedicated her life to helping others by serving in many roles in the nursing departments at Southside Community Hospital for 42 years, 18 of which she served as the Director of Nursing. She also sang in her church choir at Olive Branch United Methodist Church and was an avid supporter of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department. In her free time, she loved fishing, cooking, baking, traveling and texting with family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 4-6pm at Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville, Virginia. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at Olive Branch United Methodist Church in Prospect, Virginia, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 2:00pm. A graveside service will follow in the Olive Branch United Methodist Church cemetery.
