Mr. Lanny Freeman Alford, age 72 of Franklin, KY passed away on Friday, June 8, 2024 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green in Bowling Green, KY.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory and will continue on Wednesday, June 12, from 6:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 1:00 PM CST at the funeral home with interment to follow at Whites Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery located at 800 Duncan Rd. Bowling Green, KY 42104

Lanny was born on August 5, 1951 in Warren County, KY to the late Garland Condet Alford and the late Eunice “Toon” Alford. He is also preceded in death by two sisters, Lenda Mock and Pat Coffee.

Mr. Alford is survived by two step-sons; Craig McMillin (Kellee) of Franklin, KY and Donald McMillin of Russellville, KY; three grandsons; Derrick McMillin (Ashley), Justin “Jug” McMillin, and Brandon McMillin; three great-grandsons, Lawson McMillin, Jace McMillin, and Arlo McMillin; three siblings, Larry “Bear” Alford (Kim) of Portland, TN, Billy Alford of Albany, KY, and Peggy Crafton, of Franklin, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

Lanny was a member of El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, the local American Legion, and of V.F.W. Post 5706. Lanny was a retired equipment installation technician for Mac’s Restaurant Equipment and prior to his career there, he ran “Larry & Lanny’s Market” and was also an electrician for Bobby Hix. He was a 1969 class graduate of Franklin Simpson High School. In his spare time, he loved to play poker, crappie fish and spend time at Lake Barkley.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Lanny’s memory to the Franklin Simpson Bass Cats c/o Drew Snider 400 S College St. Franklin, KY 42134. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
