Larry Neal Able, age 81, of Weatherford, passed away on November 14, 2025, at his residence. He was born July 5, 1944, in Jack County, the son of the late F.L. and Doris Quisenberry Able. Larry was a loving husband, father, friend, and some of his favorite people called him "Pop."
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Able Stone, and wife, Bessie Matthews Able.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lisa Ratto Able of Weatherford; son, Dwayne Able (Santiago) of Spring; daughter, Vickie Able White (Richard) of Winter Garden, Florida; daughter, Jennifer Able Montgomery (Michael) of Weatherford; son, Adam Lawrence (Alayna) of Weatherford; son, Tyler Lawrence (Nykole) of Weatherford; grandchildren: Brandi Snook, Andrew White, Kelvin York, Bryse Lawrence, Makinzie Wyatt, Peyton Lawrence, and Lennon Lawrence; great grandchildren: Kamberleigh Daniel and Alaina White. He also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him, including his beloved Boomer Jack.
Larry graduated from Seminole High School, where he excelled in football and track and field. Larry had a passion for running. He ran marathons and many 5K's and 10K's up until his early 60's. His love of running was passed on to his children and grandchildren, who ran with him in the running circuit for many years.
Larry began his lifelong career as a public servant as a Weatherford fireman from 1965-1969, then with the Weatherford Police Department from 1969-1978. At the police department, he was Lieutenant in Patrol and Criminal Investigations, and was a member of the Scuba Recovery Team. He then worked for the Parker County Sheriff's Department until starting as an investigator with the State of Texas Office of Inspector General. He served with OIG for 22 years before retiring. He then worked as a bailiff in the Parker County District Court until 2016.
We ask that you join us in remembering Larry on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 18, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Following the service, a private graveside will be held for the family only at the Antelope Cemetery.
