Peoria- Larry Edward Alt, age 81, of Peoria, passed away at 4:36 AM on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at his residence.
Born October 22, 1942 in Murphy, N.C., the son to Russell F. and F. Lucy (Cooper) Alt. After graduation Larry went on to honorably serve in the United States Navy. On February 22, 1969 he married Janette Marie Jaros in Struthers, OH and together they cherished 52 years until her passing on February 24, 2021. Larry happily served the Peoria community as a member of the Radiology Department at OSF St. Francis Medical Center until his retirement. He loved sports, having participated on bowling leagues for many years, and will always be remembered as a fisherman at heart. Larry was an avid reader, especially for any fiction novel. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished spending time with his family.
Survivors include two sons: John (Jennie) Alt of Springfield and Jason (Diana) Alt of Bellevue; three grandsons: Jacob (Alyssa) Alt of Roanoke, Isaac Alt and Ethan Alt both of Springfield; and two great granddaughters: Scarlett and Piper; as well as three bonus grandchildren: Kayla, Joshua, and Bethany Hardy.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and wife Janette.
Visitation will take place at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Monday, December 4, 2023 between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at St. Thomas Catholic Church at 1:00 PM with an additional visitation 30 minutes prior. Msgr. Jason Gray will officiate, and burial will follow in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
Preferred memorials in Larry's memory may be made to Drew's Plots.
