Larry Charles Asher, 82, of Sedgwick KS passed away on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024. He was born October 17, 1941 in Stafford, KS. He is preceded in death by his parents, Beverly & Alma Ella Asher and brother James Asher. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Asher, daughter Michelle (Mitch) Holmes, son Brian (Janis) Asher, son Daniel (Amy) Asher, his daughter in love Brenda Asher and his siblings, Don (Gayla) Asher, Sister-in-Law, Jan Asher,  and Barb (Gerry) Hildebrand.
He has 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren!

Larry & Phyllis Diann Moody of Riley, KS, met at K-State and were married November 22, 1962 in Manhattan, KS. They lived an adventurous life and followed their calling to be missionaries in Nepal for over 30 years! Larry drew upon his teaching and agriculture experience to improve the lives of the Nepali people. He was a visionary and the pinnacle of his achievements was leading a team to develop a technical education program for the mission and assisting the government of Nepal in duplicating it. His heart was to love and serve. He greatly enjoyed all the opportunities, challenges, experiences, and relationships he made through the years in Nepal.

He experienced many miracles in his battle with Lymphoma in 1998 and saw God's hand move mightily in his life leading to his cure diagnosis in 2000. He always felt that the years after that were "bonus" years as a gift from God and was very intentional to spend that time with his family. After retiring from the mission field, he desired to have a family business. In 2005 Commercial Laundry Sales & Service came out of that dream. He worked with his wife Phyl and sons Brian & Daniel daily. His daughter Michelle, DIL Brenda, and several grandchildren worked with them at various times over the years as well. Many other people were blessed and given a helping hand through this business as he always felt like the employees were family too.

When he was not busy in the business, he was active in his local church, Grace Fellowship GMC, and the community. He loved the town of Sedgwick. He enjoyed life and appreciated a good joke! He often laughed to the point of tears. Whenever all of the family were together there was always plenty of laughter. He was also known to push himself hard, and rose up to many challenges he faced along the way. In his later years he had many physical challenges, but he refused to become idle. He would push himself to go on walks with Phyl and their dog Buddy. He would make his way into the office, even after officially retiring. He had a love of gardening and wherever he lived he had a large vegetable garden. He diligently worked in his gardens and reaped lots of produce from all his efforts.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, April 6th at 11:00 am at Grace Fellowship GMC Church in Sedgwick, KS.
