Cone Funeral HomeLarry M. Basham, age 78, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, at the Medical Center of Bowling Green, on November 6th, 2025. Larry was a member of United Calvary Baptist Church of Bowling Green, and Charter member of Falls of Rough Baptist Church. Larry was the son of the late James Marion Basham and Zada Nash Basham.
Other than his parents, Larry is preceded in death by a grandson Aaron Wingfield, four sisters, Nita Burch, Gail Basham, Faye Basham, and Marion Basham, two brothers, James and Gary Basham.
Larry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Peggy A. Basham; two daughters, Ginny Basham of Cyprus, TX and Tonja Wingfield (Larry), and one son John Murphy (Melanie) both of Bowling Green; three sisters, Donna Brown (Danny), Diane Burch (Roger), Karen Wilson (Bub); two brothers, Dennis Basham (Barb), and Jay Basham (Rhonda) seven grandchildren Ashley Roberts (Tim), Jennifer Phelps (Greg), Clarissa Skillern (Josh), Amanda Miller (Justin), Jonathan Murphy (Faith), Rebecca Murphy, Nathaniel Murphy, fourteen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren with 3 on the way, and several nieces and nephews.
Larry was a hard worker and had many careers throughout his lifetime, retiring from owning and operating New Horizons Home Improvement. He loved his family, but he doted on his grandchildren, and he and his wife have lived most of their life through their grandkids. Larry also enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 29th, 2025, at 11 AM at United Calvary Baptist Church. A potluck meal will follow the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his honor to his favorite charity, Norton’s (Kosairs) Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY.
