Larry Leo Boehmer was born March 19, 1937 to William and Regina (Schoenfelder) Boehmer in Parkston, SD. Larry served in the US Army 868th Field Artillery Battalion for 2 years and was stationed in Baumholder, Germany. He was also in the Army National Guard following his honorable discharge from the US Army.
He married Virginia Faller on February 11, 1961, in Delmont, SD. They settled in Mitchell following their wedding where they raised their family.
Larry was employed by Sheesley Plumbing & Heating for 33 years, and he finished out his career working for the Toshiba Corporation.
Larry loved attending his grandchildren's many sporting events, rain or shine. He enjoyed tinkering with projects and there was nothing he couldn't fix large or small. He also liked planting his wonderful garden and sharing the bounty with his family, friends and neighbors, reading book after book, various puzzles, riding his scooter around the neighborhood, and getting together with his family and friends. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Grateful to have shared his life are his wife of nearly 63 years, Virginia; children: Connie (Steve) Shields, Minneapolis; Tim Boehmer, Sioux Falls; Angie Degen, Mitchell; and grandchildren: Jack, Gavyn, Delaney, and Alexa. Also, siblings: Merlin Boehmer, Parkston; Joyce (Darrel) Goldammer, Sioux Falls; sister-in-law, Alvina Boehmer, Mitchell; and many wonderful and beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by son, Ricky; siblings, Oliver Boehmer, Alvin Boehmer, Darlene Muntefering, Donetta Yusten, Jerry Boehmer, and Kenny Boehmer.
