Mr. Larry Augustas Bowman

HICKORY � Larry A. Bowman, 70, of Hickory, NC lost his battle with cancer Monday, June 30, 2008 at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley. He was born in Catawba County to the late Edna Arndt Bowman Morris and Landon Bowman. Mr. Bowman served in the U. S. Navy and was a retired employee of Sherrills Furniture. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Herbie Bowman. Surviving are his long time and faithful companion Shirley Hudson, a daughter, Deborah Walker and son-in-law O. H. Walker of Winston-Salem, two sons, Allen Bowman and daughter-in-law Ann Bowman, Ray Bowman and daughter-in-law Sharon Bowman; his sister Ann Byers and brother-in-law Wayne Byers of Hickory; four grandchildren, Amanda Perry, Chase Bowman, Colby Bowman and Alex Bowman; and many special nieces and nephews. The celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Catawba Funerals & Cremations at 11 a.m. with Pastor Stanley Stiver and Pastor Chris Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. Military rite will provided by American Legion Post #48 of Hickory. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 10 � 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
