Larry Maxwayne Burmeister Sr., age 88, of English, Indiana passed away peacefully at his home in Franklin Indiana on October 13, 2025, surrounded by his family.

He was born on June 4, 1937, in Markleville, Indiana to Jean McGuire Burmeister.

He was a proud United States Veteran serving in the Navy from 1954 until 1958. Larry was stationed in Portland OR and in San Deigo, CA.

He married the love of his life, Georgia Helena Jones, on December 27, 1958. They were blessed with three children. He graduated from Georgetown College in 1965 with a business degree. Larry was a printer for the Indianapolis Star until his retirement. He was an avid reader who enjoyed genealogy and was a known history buff. Larry was a member of the Crawford County Historical Society.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Jean McGuire Burmeister, his sisters, Katie Dodson, and Shirley Dodson.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia Helena Jones Burmeister, his children, Jean Burmeister, Jeri (Tom) Kniery, Larry (Deedi) Burmeister Jr., grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessica, Mario, Brookelynn, Patrick and 6 great grandchildren with one on the way.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday October 20, 2025, at 1:00 P.M EST with John Oliver to officiate. Friends may visit on Monday October 20, 2025, from 10:00 A.M until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. Burial and military rites will follow at Riddle Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Larry Burmeister.
